Acronyms
Like jargon, we should avoid using acronyms altogether unless they help the reader.
Where acronyms are necessary, they should be explained on first usage.
Example:
This is a sentence about The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
Don't:
  • Use full points or spaces between letters.
  • Explain or include an acronym for an organisation if it only appears once in a story.
